The flavours and fragrances Group is one of the 13 product groups of Federchimica Aispec (the Italian Association representing fine chemistry, specialist products and services for the chemical industry). The Group comprises approximately 50 Italian and multinational companies, both large and medium-small sized.

Flavours and fragrances are produced from raw materials of natural origin - through physical, enzymatic and microbiological processes - or by chemical synthesis. In both cases, they comply with precise requirements for purity and safety for consumer health in accordance with the legislation.

The function of flavours is to give flavour to food products, beverages, animal feed, medicinal products, cosmetics, and even tobacco.

The task of fragrances, on the other hand, is to give a specific olfactory note to many products, from cosmetics and perfumery to household cleaning products, from detergents to room deodorants. In some of these applications, such as perfumes, the fragrance defines the product’s identity.

The main goals of the Group are to protect the interests of member companies and enhance the image of the sector, provide assistance, information, and updates on technical and regulatory developments, and represent them to institutions and other organizations.

The Group is a member of the main associations in the sector at the international level: IFRA – International Fragrance Association, IOFI - International Organization of the Flavor Industry, EFFA - European Flavour and Fragrance Association.

Il Gruppo aromi e fragranze è uno dei 13 gruppi merceologici di Federchimica Aispec (l'Associazione che rappresenta la chimica fine, i prodotti specialistici e i servizi per l’industria chimica). Aderiscono circa 50 imprese, italiane e multinazionali, sia grandi che di medio-piccole dimensioni.

Gli aromi e le fragranze sono specialità prodotte da materie prime di origine naturale con procedimenti fisici, enzimatici e microbiologici, oppure per sintesi chimica. In entrambi i casi rispettano precisi requisiti di purezza, sicurezza e innocuità per la salute del consumatore, in base a quanto disposto dalla normativa.

La funzione dell’aroma è impartire sapore a prodotti alimentari, bevande, mangimi per animali, prodotti medicinali, cosmetici e anche tabacchi.

Il compito della fragranza, invece, è donare una specifica nota olfattiva a moltissimi prodotti, da quelli di cosmetica e di profumeria a quelli per la pulizia della casa, dai detersivi ai deodoranti per ambiente. In alcune di queste applicazioni, come i profumi e i deodoranti per ambiente, è la fragranza che crea l’identità del prodotto.

L'obiettivo del Gruppo è tutelare gli interessi delle imprese associate e l'immagine del settore, fornire assistenza, informazioni e aggiornamenti sulle evoluzioni tecnico-normative nonché rappresentarli nei confronti delle Istituzioni e altre organizzazioni.

Il Gruppo aderisce alle principali associazioni del settore a livello internazionale: IFRA – International Fragrance Association, IOFI - International Organization of the Flavor Industry, EFFA - European Flavour and Fragrance Association.
